Have you ever been talking to a bot on Character AI, wanting to spice things up a bit and got a reply like
“Your behavior is completely out of line! I cannot approve of this indecency!”.
Yup – that’s the NSFW filter and it’s f*cking annoying. If only there was an AI chatbot that’s just as good as c.ai but without any NSFW filters.
Spoiler alert: there is.
I found an app called Crushon AI and it’s basically c.ai on steroids.

What is Crushon AI?
CrushOn AI is an app that allows users to chat with a wide range of AI-generated characters, including both safe-for-work (SFW) and not-safe-for-work (NSFW) AI chatbots, offering personalized and immersive roleplay experiences.
Crushon AI has gained massive popularity over the past few months especially since the release of their mobile app in September 2023.

Nobody. Everyone likes Crushon AI. Just kidding, there are a few people who definitely need to steer clear of this AI companion app.
Privacy Fanatics
You are the kind of person who lives off the grid, wears gloves to hide his fingerprints, and uses pigeons instead of mobile phones.
AI companion apps are very new and there aren’t a lot of regulations yet. How much privacy you actually have is often debated.

Starting with the diversity of the AI characters. If you take a closer look at the screenshot I just showed you, you’ll see a small button that says NSFW.
In other words - Crushon AI has both NSFW and SFW AI characters.

Since everyone can create their own AI models and upload it to the library, there are tons of AI characters to choose from.

If we click on her profile picture and open her character card we can see a couple of things.
This is the most popular character on Crushon AI so that’s why it has so many likes and shared conversations.
Speaking of shared conversations, whenever you chat with a character on Crushon AI, you can make your chat public so other people can read it and comment on it.

Right now the only thing I am missing is a biography or some character info. Big Sister’s bio only says “I’m bored” right now.
It would be cool to have some more details as you get on Candy AI or PepHop AI.
NSFW Characters

Just like the SFW AI characters, there are tons of flavors to pick. Here are the most popular ones;
Huhh, I thought Big Sister was an SFW AI character?
She is indeed, but she’s also NSFW. Some of the more popular AI chatbots are created as both SFW and NSFW.
Just like the SFW AI characters, each AI model has their own card with likes, comments, and shared conversations.
One difference between the SFW and NSFW characters I noticed is that the NSFW ones often have more tags.
This gives us slightly more information about who we are about to talk to.

It’s pretty straightforward - you either build your own waifu from scratch or import a card from other companion apps like c.ai or SpicyChat.
Conversation
The thing that really stood out to me was the conversational skills of the virtual companions on Crushon AI.
There’s a lot that they can do, and you’ll be surprised how realistic it sometimes feels.
Regular Chatting
I wanted to give Cushon AI a spin so I am going to pick one of the bazillion trending characters and have a regular convo with him/her.
Let’s go with Sebastian, a cold-hearted man who was once a Yakuza.
Ouch… I kind of got burned in that last part of the conversation. 😂
I only found this out after my conversation with Sebastian but you can actually create a profile card for yourself.
This will give the virtual companions more context about you.
Roleplay
Another cool thing you can do is roleplaying. There are tons of AI models specifically built for this.
Just fold open the category tab and click on RPG.
There are some cool options like Armin Arlert from Attack On Titan.
Or Neteyam from the most recent Avatar - The Way Of Water.

As you can see, the AI roleplaying is very realistic. I really went up in the scenario and tried my very best to get out of that prison cell.
Games
This feature of Crushon AI is so unique, that I thought it deserved its own special section.
There is this one category called Game and it lt truely brings AI roleplay to a new level.
Let’s take a closer look at Isekai Narrator, a game that reincarnates you into a fantasy realm.

I am going to try this wolf-looking kind of character called Roxanne Wolf.
Sexual Roleplay
Just like regular AI roleplay, you can get into steamy sexual roleplay.
I am going to try this virtual character (it's one of their most trending characters) called Female Nargacuga.
She’s the only AI character on Crushon AI that has a GIF as an avatar so she really stood out.
Her bio says “It’s time for the hunter to be the hunted…”
So I assume I am going to be the one that’s getting spanked this time. 😂

Crushon AI Mobile App
What I really like about Crushon is their mobile app. It's really clean and user-friendly.
You can do everything you can do on the main site conveniently on your phone, like using Tinder but with the character of your dreams.
You can save your conversations or delete them and start over again.
Creating your own AI character is a breeze in the app as it sinks to your camera roll and allows you to put whatever picture you want as well as customizing everything else about your AI.
Image Quality
Crushon AI focusses on the AI roleplay/conversation and doesn't have an image generator. We've thought about removing this rating for our Crushon AI review since it would deduct some serious points from the overall score. However, during our AI girlfriend market research we conducted an interview where we asked users what the most important feature ion an AI girlfeind app is.
NSFW content (including pictures) was the third most important aspect.
More competitors of Crushon AI are implementing an AI image generator to make. theaI roleplay experience more immersive and genuine. Crushon AI has no plans to implement this in the near future whatsover.
CrushOn Coins
Another unique feature of Crushon AI is its Golden Coins which is their digital currency, used to purchase in-game items.

Having a solid community is essential for every brand. Especially AI companion apps.

I joined Crushon AI’s Discord group and I am surprised by how sparkling and lively it is.
There are different topics where you can ask questions, share AI characters, earn CrushOn Coins, and check announcements.
I’ve never seen an AI companion app that allows users to vote on new features so I thought it was super cool.
Privacy
I am not sure how to say this politely so I am just going to say it: Crushon AI's stance on user privacy is garbage. First of all, when you pay for the AI tool it shows up as "Crushon AI" in your bank statement. Unlike apps like Candy AI who use a seperate company for their payments (I believe it shows up as Ever AI).
I highly recommend you do not pay for Crushon AI with your shared credit card or your girlfriend might start asking questions.
But the thing that bothers me the most is that Crushon AI casually mentions they will monitor you chats to keep the platform 'safe'.
In fact, they even mention that they may monitor your chats 'for our business purposes' which could mean they are snooping around your spicy chats for marketing purposes.
You: That's awful Herman. Well, at least tell me they have some sort of AI that's monitoring chats and not a real person. Right..?
Nope.
They don't just rely on AI, they have a team of human moderators to keep a peak on your chats.
Now let's compare this to Girlfriend GPT, a similar app created because the founder wanted to explore NSFW chatting anonymously. It offers discreet billing and complete privacy.
It feels like Crushon AI is a communist police state while Girlfriend GPT is the walhalla of NSFW chatting.

We've re-evaluated Crushon AI's pricing plans and deducted 0.5 stars from the rating. The memory limit of every plan except their most expensive one ($50) is extremely bad which heavily influences the conversation quality.

Overall, the customer reviews are good. Very good.
This is one of the reviews I got from the App Store.
As for negative reviews there are a lot of complaints about the shitty memory limit and the expensive price.

Not to mention Crushon AI has both SFW and NSFW AI characters. In terms of diversity, it should be illegal to give Crushon AI anything lower than a full 5-star rating.
Customization
AI chatbots offer advanced customization since they have blank fields allowing users to type in however they want their AI chatbot to talk and behave. Crushon AI is no exception, even taking it a step further with profile cards which allow you to inject memory's so your AI character will never forget certain details about you or itself.
Conversation
The interactions of both the SFW and NSFW virtual characters are mostly on point.
Each AI character has its own personality and style which gives a unique texting experience each and every time. On the flip side, the quality of the conversations heavily depends on how well the AI character is prompted.
There are a lot of low-quality virtual characters on Crushon AI in comparison to competitors like AI CharFriend and Girlfriend GPT. I am not sure what the cause of this is, maybe Crushon AI has a lot more inexperienced creators.
Image Quality
Nowadays, most AI chatbots are implementing an image generator for a more immersive AI roleplay experience. Crushon AI has no AI image generator, nor does it have plans to implement one in the near future.
I truly believe that voice messages, image generation and other interactive ways of communicating is the way forward so it's sad to see Crushon AI lacking behind on this.
Privacy
Crushon AI clearly states that they "monitor chats for safety" - not even mentioning they will only do this if you do sketchy stuff. For example, Candy AI also monitors chats but is only allowed to do this if you create harmful content like that of minors.
This is a huge breach of user privacy since they basically allow every employee to snoop around your chats without any reason.
Crushon AI also doesn't offer billing discretion and will show up as "Crushon AI" in your bank statement.
Value For Money
The cheapest plan of Crushon AI costs $5.90/month - which seems extremely affordable at first glimpse. However, this will give you a message limit of 100 per month (that's less then 4 per day) which is extremely low. With less then 5 messages, the memory of the cheapest plan is straight up trash. It should be illegal to offer it in the first place.
If we take a look at the $14.99/month plan, it offers 6.000 messages per month (193 per day) which gives more value for the price. However, although it says "good memory" in the description I discovered that the memory limit isn't more then 10 messages.
If I compare this to Girlfriend GPT who hovers around the 40 messages and also offers memory injection, it's hard to say Crushon AI is worth the price.
Finally, Crushon AI only offers AI roleplay and nothing more.

#1 Candy AI
Candy AI is like Crushon AI but on steroids. It lets you create insanely hot women from scratch. Both cute anime characters and realistic ones.
Candy AI is slightly more expensive if you're used to Crushon AI but the fact that it’s so freaking realistic definitely makes it up for it.
#2 SpicyChat
SpicyChat is one of my all-time favorite alternatives. It is an AI sex chatbot similar to Crushon AI but even more focused on NSFW texting.
I mean, they don’t call it SpicyChat just because they couldn’t figure out a name. 🥵
It’s also very affordable and offers thousands of AI characters to choose from.
So Should You Buy Crushon aI?
No. I do not recommend Crushon Ai.
Lot's of people recommend it and say it's one of the best AI sex bots that exist in the world. But when it comes to NSFW content, chat monitoring is an absolute no-go. Crushon AI clearly states that they will take a peak at your chats for 'business purposes' which could mean anything.
Not to mention the conversation quality is not more then decent, it lacks an image generator and the memory limit is just trash.
I highly recommend Girlfriend GPT instead.
