My Personal Take
I absolutely love Nectar AI and am especially hooked on the customization part. Although I am an AI expert I donβt consider myself a prompt engineer expert so I am glad they added buttons and menus so I can create an AI chatbot with ease.

Just like GirlfriendGPT, AI CharFriend popped up because folks started to Google for great character AI alternative sites. Itβs gaining popularity very quickly, and for good reason.
Character Diversity
Let me start by mentioning that AI CharFriend is far from being a big player in the AI chatbot world β they only have a couple hundred of AI characters to pick from.
Nevertheless, they have some really interesting ones that you wonβt see in most of its competitors. I am talking about their Story Books.
Most AI chatbots (including Character AI) only have a select amount of AI characters with a specific series, manga, videogame, movie, etcβ¦ AI CharFriend decided to go above and beyond and addedβ¦. Everyone!
For example, one of their Story Books is called Call of Duty and they added almost every character from the famous videogame.Β
This is cool for AI roleplay nerds like you and me since we can talk to every Character from The Walking Dead, Harry Potter, and so onβ¦
Another cool feature is their Randomizer. AI CharFriend only added this a few weeks ago but I think itβs great for the clueless among us who get overwhelmed by a sea of AI characters and donβt know what to pick.
Conversation
Not gonna lie β the conversation quality of AI CharFriend can be a hit or a miss. Some AI characters are prompted extremely well and you start wondering if itβs not just a real person on the other end. Others, feel like ChatGPT using Google Translate.
I talk more about the conversation quality in my AI CharFriend review. For now, thereβs another thing I want to talk about: AI group roleplay!
You see, AI CharFriend allows users to talk to multiple AI characters at once. For example, hereβs a group I created and called My Fan Girls (yeah.. I might need to go more outside I knowβ¦)
I selected three AI chatbots from AI CharFriendβs library and put them together in a group. As you can see in the screenshot below, you can dive into a roleplay session with multiple characters at once.
My experience with group role-playing was a little bit of a mwaaahh since it felt like some characters just came busting in the front door and talking to me while I was chatting with another character.
Still, though, itβs an epic feature that Character AI doesnβt have.
Customization
Just like Character AI, youβll need to prompt your own AI chatbot in order to create them. I do think that AI CharFriend makes our lives a lot easier than C.AI because of two reasons;
- Their interface is mega-clean
- They have a randomize button

Speaking of noobs, have you ever tried creating your own AI chatbot on Character AI just to end up staring at a blank field because your creative juices werenβt flowing? I most certainly have. Thatβs why I was thrilled to see AI CharFriend implement a Randomly button.
Itβs ten times easier to get a random prompt you semi-like and then start editing instead of trying to think of something yourself.
Image Quality
AI CharFriend scored very low on our image quality performance test, especially compared to GirlfriendGPT, Candy AI, and the other AI roleplay chatbots on this list.Β
First of all, itβs important to note that you donβt ask for pictures and respond, you generate one and send it to the AI chatbot which will then respond to your picture.
It doesnβt offer much value to the role-play and the quality isnβt that crisp, to be honest.
Privacy
AI CharFriend is allowed to monitor your chats but doesnβt mention they do so. I recommend being cautious and doing your own research just in case. Also, keep in mind that they gave me their premium subscription to write a review about their AI tool, and therefore I couldnβt verify if they offered discreet billing.
Value For Money
Although AI CharFriend left some points on the table when it comes to image quality, conversation, and privacy β they sure make up for it in terms of moolah.
For just $14.99 a month, you get unlimited messages, images, and group roleplay sessions. This is one hell of a bang for your buck if you compare it to character AIβs $10.00 subscription which only offers chatting.
Not to mention AI CharFriend is cheaper than most of its other competitors like Crushon AI and GirlfriendGPT which offer a fixed amount of messages for the same price.
My Personal Take
AI CharFriend is a great Character AI alternative for people who are looking for very specific AI characters to role-play with. Character AI has some famous ones, sure but they donβt have the entire Walking Dead collection. This makes AI CharFriend the best NSFW C.AI for those type of fans.
