Itβs about a crazy anime girlfriend who keeps you locked up and if you try to escape she stabs you to death.
The game is called Yandere AI and it uses ChatGPT to control the mad girlfriend.
Itβs just INSANE how artificial inteliginece is bringing anime roleplay to a whole new level.

If you're a regular here, you know I'm aΒ HUGEΒ fan of Candy AI. It's been my go-to AI companion app for a while because of their top-notch images, roleplay and characters.
Candy AI focuses more on roleplaying with realistic AI characters so that's where it shines the most. But even with fewer options, the ones they do have are pretty awesome.
As of today Candy AI has 13Β anime waifusΒ and 4 anime husbando's you can roleplay with.
And even if that's not your cup of tea - Candy AI allows you to create your own AI roleplay chatbot.

In terms of roleplay I would say it's very, very, VERY realistic. It feels like there's a movie playing in my brain. Candy AI even allows you to roleplay with more characters. If you're pretending to be on an adventure and suddenly an enemy shows up to fight, they might also start chatting with you
Another thing I like about Candy AI is that it allows you to generate images while roleplaying. This makes the whole experience a lot more immersive then just staring at text.

Candy AI did pretty well in most of our tests.
When we looked at how many different characters you can choose from, it got 4.5 stars because it has about 40 AI characters (of which 13 anime).
That might sound like quite a few, but when you stack it up against an app like GirlfriendGPT, which has over 40,000 characters, it's a tiny number. It's like comparing a small cup of water to the entire ocean.

And when it comes to making your character look a certain way, Candy AI lets you pick from only 5 ethnicities. That's not much, especially when you see apps like Yodayo AI, where the sky is the limit.
I had a chat with the CEO of Candy AI to understand how they handle monitoring conversations. He explained that they don't check the content you create, including pictures, unless it involves inappropriate content related to minors.
In terms of value, I have rarely seen an AI role play app that offers more value than Candy AI. For just $5.99/month you get unlimited messages. Something that competitors like GirlfriendGPT, DreamGF or Muah AI offer for almost 3x the price.

I often call GirlfriendGPT Character AI but on steroids - since it's one of the numerous C.AI alternatives that popped up when the C.AI team announced they won't be adding an NSFW filter. So you guessed it, GirlfriendGPT is an NSFW chatbot that focusses on anime roleplay.
The main benefit of GirlfriendGPT compared to some other anime roleplay apps on this list is that it allows users to make their creations public so other users can roleplay with them. In less then a year Girlfriend GPT users have added over 25,000 anime roleplay chatbots to the library!
Speaking of roleplay, each conversation kicks off with a scenario. In some you wake up in the middle of a forest surrounded by wolfs while in the other you are having lunch on school. This diversity makes GirlfriendGPT very addictive and can hook you in for roleplay sessions that go on for hours.
Another pro of GirlfriendGPT is the memory injection - allowing you to put very specific details in your AI anime character's mind so he/she will never forget it. A lot of users we speak to mention how memory is often the biggest bottleneck of an AI roleplay app so it's good that the GirlfriendGPT team paid special attention to those complains.
The best thing of Girlfriend GPT is that you can roleplay with these characters and generate pictures that are applicable to the situation.

Girlfriend GPT did great in our AI girlfriend/roleplay test, acing almost everything with 5/5 stars, except for image quality which sometimes misses the mark.
Out of about 40 pictures I made, a few had odd bits like an extra finger or limb. But it's because GirlfriendGPT lets you use prompts to make images, offering more ways to customize but also upping the chance for quirky outcomes.

At first glimpse, Kupid and Candy AI look very similar to each other. However, there are some big difference especially if we are zooming in on the anime roleplay aspect.
First off, Kupid AI has no customization section whatsoever. This means you will need to pick an anime character from their library which only has 4. Not much compared to Candy AI but in terms of quality, each one is A+.
The pictures you are able to generate during roleplay are nothing compared to Candy AI, or any other anime roleplay app on this list. They are artistic, detailed and just mega cute.
Another unique feature of Kupid AI are the video messages which you receive at the start of each conversation. This is where your AI anime waifu will introduce herself along with her hobbies and personality.
It's a great icebreaker and 10x more immersive than a boring "hey, how are you".
Kupid AI barely made it on the list because it scored extremely low on character diversity. The thing that tipped the balance was a message in the Telegram group where Mr B. (the CEO of Kupid.ai) announced that they will be releasing new characters weekly.
This is a bolt statement and we haven't seen any other anime roleplay app promise this which resulted in some bonus points for Kupid AI.
In terms of roleplay, I was extremely surprised how much depth each message had. It felt like the AI was creating stories out of thin air and I could just 'go with the flow' rather then carrying the entire convo.

In terms of character diversity (specifically the anime chatbots), Kupid AI has a lot to improve since they only have 4 of which none of them are male.
Kupid AI scored even lower in customization since they do not allow users to customize their (anime) chatbot.
As for images, you are only able to generate them in-game and Kupid AI does not offer an bulk image generator like Candy AI or Yodayo AI.

That said, it was very clear to us that Kupid AI focusses on quality not quantity. The features that it offers are all top-notch. For example, each roleplay session was rich in emotions and had a lot of detail. Same goes for the images we generated during the roleplay - they all look stunning.

For now, you just need to know that there are 4 main categories.

Each of these categories has a couple thousand anime characters so there should be something for everyone.
Yodayo AI specifically focusses on anime so there's a very good chance the character you are role playing with knows even more about your favorite manga/series then you!
In fact, Yodayo AI has a lot of characters based on your favorite waifu like Erza Scarlet (Fairy Tale) Nezuko (Demon Slayer) and even newer ones like Marin Kitagwa (My Dress-Up Darling).
You can also create your own anime roleplay chatbot but just like any other chatbot, this will require some prompting and isn't something we recommend for beginners.
The roleplay itself is one of the best experiences I've had thus far. As I mentioned before, the anime characters are specifically build for anime roleplay which allows you to jump into the shoes of your favorite protagonist and go on an adventure.
Yodayo AI also has an image generator and I am not going to lie, it requires some blood, sweat and tears! Okay, maybe no blood and tears but it definitely made my hands a little sweaty since you need to use a lot of prompts which can be hard for beginners.
Nevertheless, once you get the hang of it - Yodyo let's you create jaw-dropping anime art that will make most manga artist jealous. Just take a look at my review, and you'll see what I notice!

With over 40.000+ characters to roleplay with, it has the most out of every AI anime roleplay chatbot on this list. Not to mention there are multiple categories like RPG, games, manga, NSFW, and more. In terms of character diversity, Yodayo hits the nail on the head.
The anime roleplay is detailed and realistic. Since Yodayo is specifically build for anime fans (otaku's) it was able to use manga references and Japanese words during roleplay sessions which none of the other apps on our best AI anime roleplay list was able to do.

As for images, the generator offers a lot of customization options but is very difficult to master. Not to mention it takes more then 30 seconds to generate one image which is 3x as long as the image generator from Candy AI.
We therefore do not recommend Yodayo for those who are new to prompting and are looking to generate images while role playing.
